New Test in NOÛS Catalog
Test Code: 10196
Sample: Serum (1 mL) Conservation: Refrigerated Method: Enzyme Immunoassay Set Up Days: Daily Delivery term: 5 days Information: The human respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), also known as respiratory syncytial virus or simply RSV, is a negative-sense single-stranded RNA virus from the Paramyxoviridae family, which also includes common respiratory viruses such as those that cause measles and mumps. RSV causes respiratory tract infections in patients of all ages and is the leading cause of lower respiratory tract infections during infancy and early childhood. In temperate climates, it causes annual epidemics during the winter months. In tropical climates, infection is more common during the rainy season. In the United States, 60% of children are infected during their first RSV season, and nearly all children will have been infected by the age of 2 or 3. Natural RSV infection does not provide lasting immunity, and reinfections are common. Sometimes a child may develop symptomatic infections more than once during the same RSV season. Recently, there has been a significant increase in RSV cases among older adults.

Result Format: R1 – Result (kU/L) Referance values: NEGATIVE: Less than 0.35 kU/L POSITIVE: Greater than or equal to 0.35 kU/L * In MULTI - ALLERGEN system, quantification and valoration of classes are not of clinical value. * In case of positive results, it is recommended individual Specific-IgE. * The useful of this technique is as screening of Negatives | Result Format: R1 – Result Referance values: Negative In multiple RAST analysis, quantification is not clinically significant. In case of a positive result, it is recommended to perform a specific IgE determination for each individual allergen. |

A higher sIgE level corresponds to an increased likelihood of symptom manifestation upon new or future exposures. sIgE concentrations between 0.10 kU/L and 0.35 kU/L may be clinically significant in pediatric populations and in cases of drug or venom allergies. However, it is important to emphasize that no sIgE concentration can definitively exclude allergy, nor is there a specific threshold that directly implies the onset of allergy symptoms. |
