PLASMODIUM FALCIPARUM IgG and IgM ANTIBODIES (MALARIA), SERUM

Erased Tests

Test code: 395, 2030
Nemonic code: PFG, PFM

Effective update from 14/11/2022

Due to manufacturing problems of the reagent for the determination of IgG and IgM Antibodies against Plasmodium Falciparum, which was performed by Immunofluorescence (IFI) 395 - PLASMODIUM FALCIPARUM (MALARIA) IgG ANTIBODIES in SERUM and 2030 - PLASMODIUM FALCIPARUM (MALARIA) IgM ANTIBODIES in SERUM, We must discontinue both determinations as of today, November 14, 2022.

From November 21th, 2022, as an alternative, the determination of IgG Antibodies against Plasmodium spp by Enzyme immunoassay (EIA) (9741) will be activated.

The main difference between both tests, apart from the change in the measurement procedure, is that with the new procedure IgG antibodies are measured for all the usual Plasmodium species (Plasmodium falciparum, Plasmodium vixax, Plasmodium malariae, Plasmodium ovale and Plasmodium knowlesi).

The new procedure incorporates the interpretive criteria detailed below:

“Index <0.8: NEGATIVE

“Index ≥ 0.8 to <1.1: UNDETERMINED

“Index ≥ 1.1: POSITIVE

We remain at your disposal for any clarification in this regard.
