Samples: Pleural fluid, bronchoalveolar fluid, nasopharyngeal exudate, pericardial fluid, urine, CSF. TOTAL BLOOD-EDTA SEND REFRIGERATED

      Not detected.

      * This technique has 99% Sensitivity and
      Specificity of 98%.

      Méthodology used:
DNA extraction from the received sample was performed by means of the automated system MagNA Pure (Roche Diagnostic). Following, an amplification (Nested-PCR) with specific primers targeting the 16s ribosomal gene of C. pneumoniae, was performed following Trudy et al. protocol (J. Cli. Microbiology 1997, 2074).
The detection was done by visualization of the amplified fragment (112 pb) in an agarose gel after staining with ethidium bromide.
Amplification of a FV fragment as internal control for extraction and amplification.
The results of this report refer only to the tested sample.

Samples: Nasopharyngeal aspirate, bronchoalveolar lavage and bronchial aspirate. It can also be performed in pleural fluid, pericardial and whole blood-EDTA (send only refrigerated).
