LEAD (PB), URINE

Clarifications on Changes in Reference Values for Lead in Urine

According to the new occupational regulations there is an update regarding the units of biological limit values for lead.
Until now, the exposure index has been reported based on the calculation of lead concentration with creatinine in urine (code 882 - PBOR), following the structure below:

Creatinine in urine at end of workday                   g/
Lead in urine at end of workday (concentration) µg/L
Lead in urine at end of workday                          µg/g

According to the List of MAK and BAT Values, the Permanent Senate Commission of the DFG for the Investigation of Health Hazards of Chemical Compounds in the Work Area, the biological tolerance value for chemical agents (BAT) for lead in urine at the end of the workday is expressed in units of concentration, without considering the calculation with creatinine, as follows:

Lead in urine at end of workday (concentration) µg/L
Exposure to Tetraethyl and Tetramethyl Lead BAT (DFG) in urine at end of workday: Less than 50 µg/L

Consequently, we will only report concentration value of lead.
